Books for homeschool or NOT!

After I wrote about the two books earlier, I started thinking about books that I often recommend to people. The following book is not just wonderful for homeschoolers, but for anyone who wants to help their child do better in school. The author is Peggy Kaye, and the book is Games for Learning. She has three other books as well- Games for Math, Games for Reading, and Games for Writing. As in my last book post, if you only get one, get Games for Learning because it covers a little bit of everything. (more…)

Book Recommendation

I purchased a book the other day called Kids’ Questions About Sin and Salvation by Cheryl Fawcett and Robert C. Newman. (Publisher: Regular Baptist Press- around $7.00) The book contains stories about a typical family with each chapter/story pertaining to a theological question that a child might ask. Chapters include: Was Jesus Bad? How does Jesus help me? I sinned again; Now what? Each chapter concludes with questions to ask your child and verses to memorize. I have been able to refer to specific characters and situations in the stories as I’ve dealt with my children about their sin.

I also recently purchased The Baptist Family Catechism: For instruction in Biblical and Theological Knowledge by Dr. Jerry Priest There are 52 questions and answers with scripture references and suggested hymns. (more…)
