Books for homeschool or NOT!
January 15, 2008
After I wrote about the two books earlier, I started thinking about books that I often recommend to people. The following book is not just wonderful for homeschoolers, but for anyone who wants to help their child do better in school. The author is Peggy Kaye, and the book is Games for Learning. She has three other books as well- Games for Math, Games for Reading, and Games for Writing. As in my last book post, if you only get one, get Games for Learning because it covers a little bit of everything.
Peggy Kaye says that all you need for these games is “ten minutes and a willingness to have fun”. We all know that games can help children learn. But Peggy Kaye has put together a plethora of “why didn’t I think of that” kind of stuff. Some of these games are so simple, as adults, our first reaction is to scoff, “why would my child want to do that?” But when it’s a game, you will be amazed at what your child will enjoy doing! My copy has scraps of paper peeking out all over – games I want to try, games that work, games that I’ve done with child #1 and so on. I have loaned it out many times and am always relieved to get it back!
EDIT
Games for Learning is labeled for Kindergarten to Third Grade.

I need to get the writing one – it’s definitely an area of struggle for me – and thus the kids!
